Chicago Freedom School!

 Join youth of color ages 14-17 from across the city starting in July for a 6-month experience that will change the way you see the world.

The Freedom Fellowship is a six-month program which begins with the 4-week Summer Leadership Institute July 11 - August 5, 2016 and continues from September to December with weekly action planning meetings and implementing a group action project.

Youth accepted to the Freedom Fellowship receive a stipend after successfully completing the program. Public transportation, breakfast, lunch and field trip costs will be provided by CFS.

 

Youth interested in applying must submit an online application or mail/fax a handwritten application no later than Sunday, May 8, 2016.  School transcripts are NOT required. Applications will be reviewed by the Youth Leadership Board. After reviewing applications, youth may be invited for a formal interview. Notifications regarding acceptance into the Freedom Fellowship program will be sent by Saturday, May 28, 2016.

CPS Advanced Arts Program for Juniors and Seniors

Start your online application for the CPS Advanced Arts Program today and join us in 2016-17!

The CPS Advanced Arts Program is a free college preparatory program in the arts open to all CPS juniors and seniors. Get ready for scholarship in the arts by studying with a CPS teacher and Teaching Artist from the Joffrey Ballet, the Art Institute of Chicago, The Thelonius Monk Institute, and other prestigious institutions, while earning double honors or AP high school credit. 

Transportation to and from our downtown location and all materials are FREE! This is a fabulous opportunity for any student artist, musician, chef or performer to explore there area of interests and engage in an intensive experience in the arts.  Your journey begins here!

Step 1:  Apply	Go to AdvancedArts.cps.edu and click on Apply.
Step 2:  What to collect and bring	Download, print* and complete the Recommendation  Form attached to this email.  Ask your counselor for unofficial transcripts.   Bring your completed form and unofficial transcript with you when you visit our campus. (Form is attached)
Step 3:  Audition/ Portfolio Review/ Interviews	Final requirement to complete your application

$500 Scholarship for Kids R Actors 2 Summer Camp

Students ages 6-16 will have classes in acting, dance, singing, circus art, fashion modeling along with creative dramtic makeup, paper mache, tutu and muppet designing, creating writing, costume design and more! The guidelines to apply are as follows:

Students must have:

• copy of grades showing a B average
• good behavior
• an interest in the arts
• submit an essay entitled:  "How Laughter Helps the Heart!"
• a letter of recommendation from a principal
